Graeme Robertson from the Guardian recently visited the Edenmill Christmas tree farm for the harvest with his drone, and follows one tree to its new home.
As one of the largest Christmas tree suppliers in the UK, Edenmill is growing, supplying and delivering living container-grown trees and freshly cut trees.
Part of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association, the farm supplies garden centres, trade as well as the public in the UK.
As one of only a handful of recognised members in Scotland, it takes pride in being a local grower in Blanefield, near Glasgow.

It takes patience to grow a real Christmas Tree
Scots pine, Fraser fir, Nordman fir and Norway spruce are the varieties of Christmas Tree grown on Edenmill Farm.
The small Christmas trees that are planted every year can take years to reach a saleable height, growing at a maximum rate of 30cm a year.

‘I am from a farmer’s family background and love to work in the fields. It’s really great working for a family business who take pride in what they are doing’
George Aitken, farm worker
The trees are cut down when they are mature enough to sell. The tree farm opens every year on the 1st December.

‘Edenmill is a family-run, environmentally friendly business – as each tree that is cut down another is planted. We want to grow the perfect Christmas tree.
